Spaces

Spaces between teeth are called "diastemas". They occur due to the reduced size of teeth, excessive sizes of jaw bones, or by a combination of both. Congenitally missing teeth (more frequent in the lateral incisor and premolar regions) can also be the cause of spacing.
Treatment with fixed orthodontic appliances, will result in the closure of the spaces.
